A vision for Southwest NH

The vision below represents a synthesis of goals and objectives developed in coordination with SWRPC Economic Development advisory committee:

Southwest NH will be a resilient, connected region that attracts residents, workers, visitors, and investment. Thriving village centers, strong main streets, and working rural landscapes will integrate and coexist. High‑quality physical infrastructure and expanded broadband access will support economic prosperity and full participation for residents, businesses, and institutions across the region.

The region will offer varied and affordable housing options, reliable water and sewer systems, modern public safety facilities, and transportation infrastructure that expands mobility for users with a wide range of travel needs—including those without access to a personal vehicle. Energy efficiency and locally produced energy will strengthen long‑term resilience and affordability.

Southwest NH will cultivate opportunity by expanding access to childcare, education, healthcare, workforce training, and career pathways; supporting entrepreneurship and business growth; and strengthening economic clusters that build on regional strengths. Arts, culture, recreation, tourism, and agriculture will be recognized as key drivers of economic vitality and quality of life, while natural resources and working landscapes essential to the outdoor economy are protected.

Through community development, civic participation, and coordinated regional action, Southwest NH will attract and retain young people, welcome new residents and businesses, and support individuals, households, and communities in pursuing economic stability and long‑term opportunity—ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.
