A vision for Southwest NH
The vision below represents a synthesis of goals and objectives developed in coordination with SWRPC Economic Development advisory committee:
Southwest NH will be a resilient, connected, and welcoming region where thriving village centers, strong main streets, and working rural landscapes coexist. High‑quality physical infrastructure, expanded broadband access, and digitally equitable systems will support economic prosperity and full participation for residents, businesses, and institutions across the region.
The region will offer diverse and affordable housing options, reliable water and sewer systems, modern public safety facilities, and transportation infrastructure that expands mobility for people of all ages and abilities—including those without access to a personal vehicle. Energy efficiency, locally produced renewable energy, and climate‑ready investments will reduce greenhouse gas emissions while strengthening long‑term resilience and affordability.
Southwest NH will cultivate opportunity by expanding access to childcare, education, healthcare, workforce training, and career pathways; supporting entrepreneurship and business growth; and strengthening economic clusters that build on regional strengths. Arts, culture, recreation, tourism, and agriculture will be recognized as key drivers of economic vitality and quality of life, while natural resources and working landscapes essential to the outdoor economy are protected.
Through inclusive community development, civic participation, and coordinated regional action, Southwest NH will attract and retain young people, welcome new residents and businesses, and empower individuals, households, and communities to reach their full potential—ensuring a sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.
